Wes on Fox 8/29/06

Wesley Clark
And I had noticed that a few times back when I could still get Faux. Looks painful.

It's a fairly large file. 16MB. 6-7 minutes.
"Some of them put on their cowboy boots and put their feet up on the desk." -Wes Clark

He handled Cavuto really well. They plugged his book too. It must be going into a new printing.
He was all General. Cavuto tried every which way to corner him and got nowhere.
"c'mon General, you're an intelligent man?", as if Wes has lost all sense of reason?
...but what about Iraq?

When Cavuto said "C'mon General, you are an intelligent man?", I said to myself, “You have to be kidding me to say that in order to twist things around.” In another words, he meant, or was trying make him look bad, that Gen. Clark is not seeing the big picture, which Gen. Clark patiently and then quickly made it clear of what is going on and not letting generalization become the clouds of our minds.

General Clark kicked Cavuto's booty.... Again!
Thanks, cause I tuned in at 1:15 PT and knew in my gut I had missed Wes, and turned it off...cause no need in suffering! And it turns out I was right...
Great Service Ruth!
"decent wages, education and health care for every American is "not just an opportunity, but a right."--Wes Clark

Don't know how he does it. But thankful that he does.
Thank you General Clark.
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right. - Hunter/Garcia
That was great! Clear and easy to follow and consistent in his message, as always! I noticed the visitor number jumped to over 1800 shortly after the broadcast. Stirred up some interest!

Cavuto wanted to politize the segment from the get go. General Wes did oblige. I particularly enjoyed the end when Wes said he looked forward to discussing it again. Heh! General Wes flattened him.....and looked damn fine today too, I might add.
no contest. WKC nailed Cavuto at every turn. I think Cavuto may admire WKC--since he plugged the book, and kept saying how esteemed a general he was. But he (Cavuto) was sure playing the neocon tune with his asinine questions.
Thanks, Ruth!
The General gets it right.
Competence--What a concept!

Thanks so much!
Boy, that Neil Cavuto is a wanker.....trying to trip up Wes with "being against GWB is being against the troops". Wes turned it right around by saying the pRez used the troops for political purposes. :)
In the words of one of my favorite CCNers:
Yessir Mr. President!
This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.....Molly Ivins
We had a family viewing today. MrZ and I thank you.
The General, who always kicks booty, was especially determined today. I also heard that he wants some of those troops redeployed.
We are badly in need of some non-fox time with Wes. After listening, I've got a feeling that he has much more to say.
You have not converted a man because you have silenced him.--J. V. Marley

It's always amazing to see that Wes can speak so intelligently on about any topic.

The General just gets better and better!!! I thought this gig on faux was a mistake but I believe that initial impression was wrong as I now think that the General is USING fox to sharpen his political chops!!! Yippee!!!

Thanks Ruth...That Cavuto is hard to take, though.

When I watched Gen. Clark live today I got this feeling-- Something in the way he said he hoped he would get another chance to talk to Cavuto again made me feel like something is in the works.
I rewatched the video and can't put my finger on it exactly now, but at the time there was something different.
Another offer in the works? A presidential run announcement shortly? Dunno. It might be nothing. It might be something. :)
"Some of them put on their cowboy boots and put their feet up on the desk." -Wes Clark

...to O'Reilly not long ago. I didn't pick up anything like that, but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Cavuto, he answered him point by point, and he did not let Cavuto try to end a topic by making a blunt point and then quickly try and change the subject!
Gen. Clark stopped Cavuto when he tried to do that and he credibly answered the "point" that Cavuto was trying to make and run with!
Cavuto's bias was clearly seen where he was reduced to being the desperate Bush apologist that he was in that interview!
How I wish that more Democrats (especially Democratic leaders) would CREDIBLY stand up to people like Cavuto, Hannity, and O'Reilly like how Gen. Clark does, not take their crap, and publicly put them in their place!

I agree...I wish we had more out there who could do that so successfully and credibly.

a very credible role model and an excellent example for ALL Democrats to follow when they deal with the extreme right wing media pundits in my opinion!

General Wes repeated that he wasn't for going into Iraq
Submitted by Clearsky on August 29, 2006 - 4:39pm.
And, also, that the Bush Administration kept insisting that Iraq was the source of the 9/11 attack, and they weren't. It was the terroism groups from the region.
And that, no, (contrary to what Cavuto was saying many of the Democrats wanted to do, i.e. get out NOW), he, General Wes was not for jerking our troops out all of a sudden now.
General Wes didn't say any of the above, just my effort to summarize for you.
Cavuto, in what seemed an effort to get General Wes to be more aligned with his, Cavuto's, comments/questiohs, made some pretty nice, and deserved, complementary comments about General Wes. (something to the effect, that: (not a quote) :you're considered by many to be our top General...
and something to the effect that: General, you're really smart and so...

I think Cavuto said something like: General, you're considered by many to be one of our greatest Generals ever... THEN immediately goes to- your party's stance ["the 'Democrat' party, right?!" - my word] is hurting the troops. ? Like- I WISH WKC was representative of all dems!!!
What I liked though, besides that obviously- was the total, calm listening emanating from WKC. Serious Zen! Very nicely done, calm, masterful- explanatory. Can lead a Faux to water but you can't make him stop drinking the Kool Aid!!! heh
------------
I was listening to the first chapter of Paul R's book Chasing Ghosts (linked from the Wespac email) this afternoon- and there's a section where he talks about how one of the first thing recruits do in basic training is to fill out their insurance forms for next of kin & determine survivor benefits.
I think that's the part "they" can't seem to understand- loving the troops = wanting to keep as many of them alive & intact & training & protecting & safe, as well as their families- this is what war only only only as a last resort means!!!! Putz!!!!!!!! Man o man, I am so far beyond tired of them coming after Democrats in this manner!
WHAT HAVEN'T THEY CUT AND RUN ON, WHAT- ANYTHING? They cut & run on scientific research & the promise of science! They cut & run on improving our infrastructure! They cut & run on rebuilding New Orleans! On Ground Zero! On aviation safety! On senior citizens! On school children, for god's sake! (Did you see lowest SAT scores in 30 years all over the news this a.m.?!) They cut & run on port security! They'd like to cut & run on Social Security! On election integrity! On HAVA! On cafe standards!!!! They cut & run on the freakin' Constitution, for heaven's sake (PATRIOT Act!)!!!!
Who the HELL are they kidding but themselves??

and I am still very hot & bothered about Laura Bush campaigning against Tammy Duckworth so if I can find the coffee & the time- just you wait!
Seriously. Cut & Run- nothing but the ultimate "projection" by the Dead Beat Dad Party!!!!!
I had a neighbor stop by, he's a firm Democrat and knew nothing of Wes other than what I had shared about him a few times. He saw the show with Cavuto, and he felt that Wes didn't answer the questions. He walked away I think confused and fingered Wes as just giving a politicians non-answer. Said he was dissapointed and he didn't know his posistion after the interview.
I watched the video of this and thought the General did his usual job of controlling the subject. I'm wondering if to those who don't know him, would more people take this as "dodging the questions" like my friend did?

Wes's appearance was in the capacity of military analyst. Cavuto is the one who made that brief interview 'partisan-political'. Wes wasn't trying to dodge questions, he was determined to stay on-topic and he did so.
It's hard to say, not knowing how much your neighbor has followed the bu$h war agenda into Iraq over the past 3 + years. So many Americans haven't...it's really very hard to reason with them, even Democrats.
(In my experience these are dwellers in lala-land where Edwards' camp-supporters reside)
...but what about Iraq?

...Cavuto was asking the wrong questions.
These guys ask trap questions for which there are no good answers. So Wes refuses to answer those, and instead answers the qustions that SHOULD be aked.

That's an interesting observation- perhaps you could speak to your friend briefly about "framing" vs. "evading" & also, how the Faux questions are designed as a minefield. Give an example of how "if WKC said X here, Cavuto's playbook tells him to say Y..."
Wes is getting (and honestly- has been) so so so so so so good & so masterful at this, it's like watching an athlete with superb skill make something extraordinary & unattainable look... well, easy.

be that the neighbor is so far 'down' in feeling helpless or hopeless the only thing that would revive him is the extra caffinated nominating convention speech charisma inspiration speech-ifying and didn't differentiate the media appearance experience of having to fend off the fox 'news' interviewer trying to create Bush Gop the strong leaders doing correct thing - and Dems WKC not correct not this not that manipulation going on...
he didn't get the context..people very turned off or discourged feeling helpless can't appreciate what it means to take the frontline and hold it against attack... they don't want to be emotionally available to see that .. they are further back of the front lines cause that is all they can emotionally handle...
the Team - if when he announces - he assembles as to get the media appearances he needs despite the 'electronic Berlin wall of the media'
look at Pelsoi - video at Huff Post she gave a historic response of a generation.. do you think many people are appreciating it for what it is.... it takes time for people to put thing in perspective... the media is waging a infowar on people minds hearts and mood trying to defeat them from participating in democracy so they can get the total fascist oligarchy-they desperately want.....
infowar shell shock... it takes time to wake up from the concusive thumping head trauma... bleeding brain .. of listneing to BS 24/7

Cavuto, and most of the rest of the 'cast' at FoxNews is the main reason I very seldom watch this extremly biased "news" program.
Is a conservative Democrat. The kind that will vote for a Republican ONLY if he feels the Dem running just doesn't have a message. He's a smart guy, tired of "politics as usual" I believe he mistook what Wes did for political double-speak. I'm going to see him tonight and I'll bring up the show now that I have seen the segment. I'm sure I can get through to him. Thanks for the comments guys. You are always a great help.

Clark Casts - podcasts and/or online access .... plus the interviews with other Dems nice list available on the securing america page.... and run the video of WKC in Texas June 2006 at the Dem convention for him that is a barn burner speech-ify-ing feel good about our prospects of turning things around ( if they can in TX they can get it done everywhere :-) and great Wes delivery of Democratic message

Ruth, I just noticed your picture up there....What happened to the cute little kitty? That monster didn't eat him, did he? I mean, you did used to have a little kitty up there, right?

I had not had the chance to see this, it was great. I never watch Fox News, I actually have it blocked on my TV, but at least they have someone like Gen. Clark to bring them back to reality every once and awhile.
General Wesley Clark--A real Patriot

Whew, if you missed Wes on Fox today watch this. Cavuto tried to say Bush hasn't used Iraq as a political tool. Wes quashed that pretty good.
Note: Wes needs better razor blades or less shaving. His upper lip is razor burned pretty badly.
