Submitted by cagrunden on September 17, 2005 - 8:00pm.
Just a reminder for everyone to make sure they catch General Clark on Fox News tonight at 10pm ET.
Discuss General Clark's appearance here.

"We need a higher standard of leadership." Wes Clark
n/t

It's the General and we get FoxNews here.
The bad news is it's Geraldo.
...and we get FoxNews here :-)
You'd be taking them to the Better Business Bureau if you bought a washing machine the way we went into the war in Iraq. Wes Clark, CNN Aug 17 2003

"George Bush has had his day and he's bollixed it up."

Figures, ..only FOX can try to blame this disaster on lib'rul Dems, like Gary Condit.

I thought he was supposed to be on from 10:00 to 10:10
"George Bush has had his day and he's bollixed it up."
mention of General Clark in the lead-in by Geraldo at the end of the previous programme.
Jusst talked about NO and Natalie's disappearance in Aruba.

I can't watch this idiot and NOT see Wes
"George Bush has had his day and he's bollixed it up."

if you got a box of rubber bands, try to aim for Geraldo's nose. Eventually, you'll master Shaolin Monk skills to aim for O'Lielly's squinty eyes.

in Little Rock. silver and black striped tie.
(Afghanistan election) All indicators are positive . Karzai great leader. Troops are doing a great job. 30 years of war tired of it. i think there's going to be a great turnout for election.
(Iraq)Hearing examples of clerics discouraging violence. intelligence has to come from Iraqis. It's a tough environment. People working with us being killed. Civil war tendencies terrible. Can't prevent random bombings, but can prevent civil war
(That's the beast I could do in real time)

Geraldo getting most of his expert feedback from Ollie, not asking General.
North: Muslim Clerics not coming forth to condemn it. (ie blame them attitude)
Clark argues that he is aware that they are making efforts, but he adds that the military is really not trained to deal with the insurgent bombings. It's really a very tough task to call on our military, but that our military is doing an incredible job, militarily. Instead, he argued that we also needed to build an "intelligence" framework to deal with insurgency.

Wes and Ollie getting along/agreeing. Ollie says explicitly that he agrees with General Clark.
OK with me.
is in shock!
Geraldo to Wes when he ask him the first question of the segment.
Elicited that great Wes smile.

I just missed it! I wish it was easier to get to where everyone is. They are already talkin about missing white girl. : (

This is one time I'm glad I can edit my post.

frequently used in Europe.

Greg Palast's article gives proper perspective. And regardless of Gallagers' intent, his theatrical gift for brute sarcasm resonates the utter contempt that world has towards our "leaders", Bush and Blair, who misled us to war.

Col "I should be in the klink" North makes ya wanna take a Pine Sol shower to get the scum off. But it was worth it to see the General.

blather blather blather.....
"George Bush has had his day and he's bollixed it up."

I would have enjoyed seeing Hitchens taken to the wood shed
"George Bush has had his day and he's bollixed it up."

Wes on a split screen with Ollie traitor North looked like Doryan Gray on one side, smooth, taunt and good looking, and his portrait on the other, oogly, wrinkled and worn...oozing worms and such. The contrast was just too much for the little colonel...while the 4 star General shined with twinkling eyes.
Fox might have been trying to elevate North (can't really bring down Wes), but I think that backfired bigtime for them.
Good!
Hope they don't try it again!
Now I must spray some Febreeze on that spot on the TV that Ollie occupied. Just plain ol' nastey!

makes Wes look good. Ollie didn't take issue with anything Wes had to say. Wes pretty much politely ignored Ollie. That worked out very well.
That was a short appearance. I liked how the General spoke about the random car bombings that will not be easily stopped. Bleeding the troops. Also, the point about how Afghaniston has ben at war for decades and they are tired of it.
But, I was sickened by the leadup stories before the General and Col. North appeared.
First Geraldo spoke as if they were equal as genuine analysts. Then out of what was described as courtesy he let Wes speak first. Wes, as would be expected, praised the elections in Afghanistan. North then agreed but added that this is what will take place in Iraq. He then assailed th Muslim clerics for not condemning Zarkawhi. Wes stated that he had heard otherwise. I feel that due to Geraldo's failure or deliberate timing and spin the impression was that supposed success in Afghanistan would translate to success in Iraq. I don't think this did justice to Wes's position and came off that he and North were equals and basically in agreement. I think it did more for Fox and their spin and did not help convey Wes's policy ideas as we have seen them spelled out here. To me it was a total loss. Just my opinion but I saw nothing to cheer about. It would be nice to see Geraldo reminded that comparing General Clark and a criminal is beyond all reason.

If you agree with spark (and I very much do), it's time to drop a line to Geraldo and/or Fox and let them know. You can bet the droolers in freeperville will.

"Never underestimate what a determined soldier can accomplish when he's fighting for his country." -- General Wesley Clark
I guess I've missed some interesting goings-on lately! I hadn't even known that Wes was going to be on FOX. Thanks for doing the tough work of monitoring the Geraldo Show and reporting for the rest of us. It's always inspiring to know Wes has been on, sharing some of his light and leadership.
Leadership means lifting people up. --Wes Clark
Does anybody know if there is a transcript of Gen. Clark's appearance on Geraldo last night and if so how it can be accessed?
