Change the course with Jon, Harold, and Ned

| | | | |

We're just two days from the most important fundraising deadline in the 2006 elections, and I wanted to write to you about three candidates who will help change the course in Congress and in America: Jon Tester (MT-Sen), Harold Ford, Jr. (TN-Sen), and Ned Lamont (CT-Sen).

Help change the course with Jon, Harold, and Ned in these final days before the September 30th deadline. Contribute today!

Jon Tester

Jon Tester

Today, I am in Montana to support one of our strongest candidates to take over a Republican-held Senate seat, Jon Tester. Jon is an organic farmer from Big Sandy, MT, and for the last eight years has also been a State Senator and is currently the President of the Montana State Senate.

Jon is running against one of the worst Senators in Congress, Republican Conrad Burns. Burns received nearly $150,000 from disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his associates, with Abramoff himself being quoted in Vanity Fair as saying, "Every appropriation we wanted from Senator Conrad Burns' committee we got." And what Senator tells a team of fire fighters who had traveled to Montana from Virginia to fight a major forest fire that they were "doing a piss-poor job"?

Montana is a state that President Bush carried by 20 points in 2004, yet Jon Tester is leading in the polls because of his authentic representation of Montana values.

Give me some good news to give to Jon Tester while I'm campaigning with him today. Click here to support Jon's campaign now!

Harold Ford

Harold Ford

On the opposite side of the country in Tennessee, another red state is poised to elect a rising young Democratic star. Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is running to take over Bill Frist's Senate seat, and his tireless campaigning has put him in the lead of this state that hasn't elected a Democrat to the Senate since Al Gore was re-elected in 1990. Harold focuses on making government work for people. When government is ineffective or gets in the way, he works to reform it and remove barriers that prevent people from getting ahead.

Ford is running against multi-millionaire Bob Corker, who has already spent $4.2 million of his own money to win the Republican primary. Corker's campaign is in total disarray with corruption scandals and revelations that he underfunded the emergency 911 system as Chattanooga mayor, leading to 31,000 unanswered calls.

A victory in Tennessee could provide Democrats with the sixth takeover of a Republican held seat that would switch the Senate over to Democratic control.

Harold Ford is putting his all into this race, but he'll need our help to overcome Corker's millions. Click here to support Harold's campaign today!

Ned Lamont

Ned Lamont

In Connecticut, Ned Lamont is running the type of campaign all Democrats can be proud of. Standing up to President Bush's failed policy in Iraq, dispensing with self-serving and wishy-washy notions of "independence," and pledging to invest in America's future, Ned Lamont is a candidate for Senate who I am proud to endorse.

Of course Ned's opponent, Joe Lieberman, after refusing to abide by the results of August's Democratic primary election, has decided to do his best to drag every Connecticut Democrat's electoral prospects down with him. He continues to provide political cover to President Bush and other local Republicans despite their clearly failed policies.

By supporting Ned Lamont, you are not only helping to elect a proud Democrat to the U.S. Senate from Connecticut, but you are also helping three Democratic challengers in tough House races who are running with Ned's name at the top of the ticket.

Ned Lamont will be a Senator who will strengthen the Democratic Party and stand up for our interests in the U.S. Senate. Click here to support his campaign today!

The critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is just two days. I hope that you will join me in supporting these three tremendous candidates for Senate, any one of whom will make waves when elected this November, and all three of whom will help us change course and move America forward.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

P.S. Whether you can help one, two, or all three of these great candidates, please contribute now! The September 30th fundraising deadline is less than 48 hours away. Whatever you can give -- today -- will have a huge impact on our ability to win back Congress this November.

He voted for the torture "compromise".
Guess he needed to show himself to be "tough on terrorism" the Bush way, to try to gain a few votes.

This is not one of them.

Any candidate who cannot tell the difference between the end of the republic and a donut, should re-examine their candidacy.

Sure some states are gonna only elect DINOS, but once the King Comma gets his immunity from prosecution, and habeus corpus is modified out of existence, No number of DINOS in the house will save us.

If no senator will filibuster this to at least force the repubs to nuke them, then it all over but the counting and Diebold is doing the counting.

See ya in the camps.

If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
-- Winston Churchill

As I said, this Senate chamber has turned into a Den of Inequity, and Dems refusing to fight is a signal to me that we have low odds of turning this around... as the very people we are voting for and sending money to and depending on are turning their backs on us!

One vote. We all get one vote, and you are right, Diebold is doing the counting. WE can't even get our Dems to fight the disenfranchisement of votes!

I admire what Churchill said. He was right!

My sister works in the Corker campaign, and according to her, it is absolutely NOT in total disarray. There were some disagreements over ads, but that's about it. The ad disagreement consisted of Corker's not allowing much negative advertising while some staffers wanted more negative ads.

Also, I didn't much like the unsubstantiated "corruption scandal." My sister has no clue what that might be about.

Overall, I would prefer that such negative things like this and the comment about Conrad Burns not go out under Wes's name.

A quid pro quo land deal scandal with Walmart for Corker? And sorry, I disagree. Burns is an embarrassment. He's corrupt and went off on firefighters doing everything they can to help thousands of miles from their home. Sorry, that's fair game.

Torture boy Ford, is on his own.

This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.....Molly Ivins

Gen. Clark did an outstanding job on his swing in Montana. At the gathering in Great Falls, attended by over 250 people, he gave a great speech in support of Jon Tester and stuck around for a long time talking to the people gathered. The news in Great Falls and Bozeman led with this story. In Helena, it was the 3rd story. At the Helena fundraiser for Tester, Clark gave a rousing speech and spent a considerable time talking to guests. All in all, it made my day. Burns can be defeated, and will be. Or he'll be indicted... or maybe both.

As for the other comments, Bill Clinton has a great line where he says "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." Don't let one vote that you disagree on put you in the wrong camp...
