General Clark is hitting the campaign trail this weekend in Iowa on behalf of Democratic candidates across the state
UPDATE! The location for the Sunday morning brunch in Fort Dodge has changed. It will now be held at Marvin's, 809 Central Ave., Fort Dodge, IA.
Second Annual Bruce, Blues & BBQ
On Saturday, he'll be attending The Second Annual Bruce, Blues & BBQ with special guest Senator Tom Harkin -- a celebration on behalf of Bruce Braley (IA-01). The party starts at 1PM at the Gateway Celebration Shelter in Gateway Park (North Main and First Streets) in Cedar Falls.
Bruce is running for the seat left open by Republican Jim Nussle (who vacated it to run for IA Gov) and as General Clark said "This seat is the Democrats' #1 pickup opportunity."
And the fun's just beginning!
UNI Panthers Football Homecoming Matchup
General Clark and Bruce will attend the UNI Panthers Football Homecoming Matchup Against Missouri State later that afternoon. The UNI Panthers will open Gateway play on Saturday against the Bears at 4:05 p.m. The Panthers are the No. 14-ranked football team and the game promises to be an event to remember.
Sunday morning with Wes Clark and Dr. Selden Spencer
Sunday morning takes General Clark to an event supporting Selden Spencer, Democrat for Congress from Iowa's 4th district. Spencer and Clark will meet with supporters to talk about national security and the war in Iraq. Spencer returned recently from a trip to Afghanistan.
The trip had a profound impact on his foreign policy views:
Im honored to have a man of General Clarks stature and experience standing with me and speaking about our national security. My trip to Afghanistan has given me a perspective when talking about foreign policy that my opponent doesnt have.
Clarks visit to Fort Dodge will come days after he blasted President Bush over his handling of the war in Iraq and the recent detainee bill, which critics claim allows for some forms of torture and suspension of the writ of habeas corpus. Spencers opponent voted for the new detainee bill.
It was America that led to the creation of the Geneva Conventions, said Clark to the crowd of UCLA students and faculty. And now were walking away from it, from the very values we espoused If you give up your own beliefs and ideas, youve lost the very weapons you need to fight the war.
All supporters of Dr. Spencer are encouraged to attend. Details here.
Campaign Rally 2006 for Congressman Boswell
General Clark rounds out his Iowa Weekend by attending a Campaign Rally sponsored by Congressman Jim Oberstar (D-MN) and Senator Tom Harkin to Re-Elect Congressman Leonard Boswell on Sunday afternoon.
This public show of support for "... an American hero. .... the number one takeover target for Republicans in the House of Representatives this November..." begins Sunday October 8, 2006 @ 3 p.m. at the McAninch Maintenance Facility, 4001 Delaware Ave, in Des Moines.
General Clark is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Democratic candidates all over the country. This weekend it's Iowa.

Steve Rose of the Johnson County Sun wrote an editorial today endorsing all the Democratic candidates. He's always been a rabid Republican. This is a first for that paper. He calls the people running conservative Democrats. We call them moderate, but the point is he just unloads on the Rs. I never thought I'd see this coming from him.
or is it strickly a paper-based paper?
I'd love to be able to pass it to some of the newsies in Texas.

The Stakeholder found the link and is supposed to post it, so when they do I'll bring it over here. It's the Johnson County Sun column with Steve Rose if you want to try and find it sooner.

...spending time in IOWA!!!
:)
This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.....Molly Ivins

Can't wait till someone posts a firsthand account and better yet... posts pictures!!!
You go Wes Clark!!!

could swing down to KS from Iowa and help out Nancy Boyda. Leavenworth and Ft. Riley are in her district, I believe. Cheney is fundraising for Ryun next week. Boyda could win this thing. Wouldn't that be something?
