With all the talk about Obama, Biden, McCain, Palin, etc, I thought it would be fun on this fine Friday to talk about what first brought you to Wes Clark. Did you first hear about him from a family member or friend? Or, was it something you read on the internet? Were you around since the beginning during the Draft Clark days? Or, are you a more recent fan?

Republican Convention
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to get some feedback from the community on how everyone thought Gov. Palin did last night. I see there have been several blog postings on Gov. Palin and wanted to get some info on exactly how we all thought she did, in one place.
Personally, I was shocked to see Sarah Palin drew more than 37.2 million combined viewers on six networks, just short of Barack Obama's 38.3 million viewers last week.
As always, thanks for the feedback!

HEALTH / FOOD /ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
"There’s no Place Like… Homeopathy”
~ by Jen
The AMA (American Medical Association), formed in 1846, was a weak organization with little money and little respect from the general public. It has since grown to be a powerful force in this country, largely responsible for holding back various alternative health practices -- chiropractics, and homeopathy among them. In the article How the American Medical Association Got Rich, we get an overview of how the organization came into being, and how they grew to dominate the medical profession in this country, squashing out alternative medicine through ruthless tactics and greed.
Today, due to the power and influence of the insurance industry and big pharma, intertwined with the AMA, we have a health care system that prevents far too many people from being able to afford comprehensive medical care.
… “As early as the 1930s, then-AMA President Dr. Morris Fishbein wrote that a national healthcare program would cause “a weakening of national caliber,” and signal “a definite step toward either communism or totalitarianism.” When, in 1948, President Harry Truman called for the creation of a government-run national health insurance fund, the AMA characterized the bill as “socialized medicine” and campaigned against it.” ….
It is past time that people are made aware of the many benefits of alternative methods of healing in order to take control of their own health and lives. Maybe someday our politicians will stand up to the powerful industries controlling our health care system, but until then, it is up to each of us to take responsibility for our own well being. It’s just one more arena where we have been left to fend for ourselves, where we are on our own.
Now's The Time To Move Forward

If I sound like a dork, it's because I'm trying to make myself think at 5:30am and the IV of coffee is just getting warmed up, so forgive me...
OK - the convention is now over and, it really is time to move forward. Those here who have supported Senator Clinton have had many months to vent their frustrations and try to get themselves used to the idea of Senator Obama as the nominee. Those who supported Senator Obama have had those same months to vent their frustrations at Clinton supporters. It should end now. Please.
WE WERE SO HONOURED TO SEE GENERAL CLARK ON STAGE AT THE CONVENTION

Wesley Clark

Dear supporters of Honourable General Clark:
As a long-time supporter of General Clark, I, too, was hurt that General Clark was not selected as Vice-President. However, as a person of faith, I believe that General Clark will be placed in the Obama Cabinet.

Heading to Denver
Submitted by Wes Clark on August 27, 2008 - 3:50pm.
I'm in Munich right now, but I can't tell you how ready I am to head to Denver and join my fellow Democrats.
The Democratic Party is ready to lead and address the many challenges ahead, and Barack Obama is the leader we need for our country and to help humanity meet today's global challenges.
We're a party loaded with talent. Like many of you, I've been thrilled by the speeches at the Democratic National Convention so far. Hillary Clinton was great last night. Her strength, her character, her call for unity. Her speech just proves once again that she is a great American and has many years of distinguished public service ahead of her.
And what an inspiration Ted Kennedy was, as was Nancy Pelosi, our Speaker of the House. Brian Schweitzer, the history-making Governor of Montana and Mark Warner, a business executive, distinguished former Governor and soon-to-be a remarkable U.S. Senator.
Tonight, I'm looking forward to catching the speeches of our honored former President Bill Clinton and our vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden. We are so fortunate that these two outstanding men are Democrats.
And then there's tomorrow. Our Party is so fortunate at this time in history to be nominating Barack Obama. After Michelle's incredibly warm and personal speech on Monday, any American can see the strength of character in their family. It's clear that when the Obamas become first family, they'll definitely bring change to America.
I can't wait to hear Senator Obama's words in person. He's warned us not to expect that he can duplicate the electricity from his memorable speech in 2004, but I think he's just being wise to play down expectations. He has proven to be a remarkable human being with incredible judgment, an outstanding sense of direction, and unmatched communication skills. I fully expect to be inspired, as I was in 2004.
I'm proud to be a Democrat, and I'm proud to ask you to pull together with me. It's time to help elect our candidates to every office. From mayors to governors, from state legislators to Congress. And especially to come together behind Barack Obama.
Barack is going to be the leader of a great team of Democrats in this election campaign. And he's going to become a great American President.
I believe he has the skills and resolve to strengthen America's security, rebuild America's economy, and restore Americans' faith in the future.
Our challenge is clear. We must win in November.
Sincerely,

Just for the record, THE speech has always been online. It can be found in my FAVORITE clips on my home page. It's in flash, scroll down in my VIDEO SPOTLIGHT to DNC Speech. However, I just uploaded a windows media version. It's 19.5 MBs but should stream okay for most. If not, just RIGHT CLICK, SAVE AS, and you will have a copy on your PC for those blue days. Oh what might have been! Someone hand me the kleenex please....
