Clinton, Wes Clark Stop at Iowa Diner

NBC/National Journal | Athena Jones

DES MOINES, Nov 19 -- Clinton brought out Gen. Wes Clark, onetime presidential hopeful himself, in Iowa. Clark appeared with the New York senator at an unscheduled stop at Drake Diner -- part of the campaign's efforts to shore up support among voters in a state where the race for the Democratic nomination is far closer than in the rest of the country.

Clinton introduced the general and chatted with a handful of voters who worked at a children's hospital and with a man who asked about housing issues.

"I'd love to have your support," the senator said at one point; one of the diners said she would have his. Clinton then settled in at the counter to chat, before the cameras, with Clark and former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack about the challenges of campaigning over the holidays.

Clinton wondered aloud how they would keep momentum and voter contact going over the holidays, saying that campaigning at that time of year has never really been on anyone's agenda.

"You can't call them on Christmas," Vilsack said.
"You can call them on the 26th," Clark responded with a chuckle.

They also spoke about China and ways to fight global warming. Clark called eggs his "comfort food" and both he and Clinton ordered fruit bowls.

The Will Of The People Is Not In The Pledged Delegate Count

Big Tent Democrat takes a look at how undemocratic (lowercase d) the process for choosing our Democratic presidential nominee is. If we only had a "free press" that would inform the people of how this works, perhaps there would be a groundswell of support to change the system. As it is, I don't think many are aware, or even care how unrepresentative the process actually is.

Don't vote for Hope. Vote for Reason and Experience, so you can be hopeful

(Note: With the greatest respect for Gordon's opinion about Obama, this blog is still meant as rebuttal to his blog, "Why I Will Support Barack Obama for President 2008."  Initially, this was going to be a comment to his post, but it's since expanded as I've written.)

Romney Watch: MA doesn't like Romeny.... REALLY doesn't like him.

Check out this story from WBZ showing how those of us who have first hand experience with Romney as a chief executive. Lets just put it this way... 44% of PRO LIFERS prefer Clinton!

Bonus feature: You get to see downtown Waltham, just a few blocks from my home, and the bridge/mill area I walk through twice a day.

We lost our best candidate today

I put this on Dialykos also...

I was at my college’s football game with 74,000 other people when I received a text message from my dad informing me of the news that General Clark endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. I texted him back three words immediately, "God damn it."

Romney Watch: Romney Research by the editors of BMG

| | | | |

The editors of Blue Mass Group are entering the growing corps of Romney Watchers. They have opened a new Wiki of fact checked items about our least favorite ex-Governor.

Copied from BMG:

"We are delighted to introduce The Romney Research Center: A Media Resource. This is a wiki page where we will collect verified, fact-checked background information about Willard that can be used by members of the media and other interested observers as a reference resource.

Romney Watch: Guess I am not alone

| | | |

Guess I am not the only person who's primary goal this season it to torpedo Romney. The Massachusetts Democratic Party, has set up Romneyfacts.com

It is a site dedicated to showing how much of a flip flopping liar Willard really is. The first "web ad" has several of his quotes from his MA Governor Campaign. Classics

Wes Clark: Map Changer

| | | |

Markos of DailyKos started an interesting thread today talking about the current 2008 Democratic field. While he feels somewhat optimistic about the field, he laments: "We don't have a "map changer" in this race, someone who could dramatically upset the current red/blue divide."

Boy, what a perfect opportunity to talk about Wes Clark. I truly believe, as I say in my post over there, that "Wes Clark- were he to run- would have more Red State crossover than any Democratic nominee in modern American history."

Stop the Campaign

Like most supporters of General Clark, I wondered why he hasn't announced yet. I wondered why he was being so down at the DNC Winter Meeting instead of trying to pump everyone up.

Then I saw Hillary Clinton's speech. "If we in Congress don’t end this war before January 2009, as president, I will." We're in the middle of the greatest foreign policy disaster in our history, and here's my Senator saying that if she doesn't get around to doing anything about it while she's busy running for President, she'll do something in two years and only if elected President.

Rudy Giuliani (Psycho Hosebeast) for President '08

Whoa! This article in today's Salon takes Rudy Giuliani "downtown to Chinatown."  It's what I've been sayin' and New Yorkers have known about this wack job all along.  The man would be America's worst nightmare if he became president.  And most especially right after Bush.

We've got to impress this upon people who think that he is some kind of hero as a result of 9/11.  I'm hoping that Giuliani's history will continue to unravel under the harsh scrutiny that America's presidential candidates must endure.  For me, this piece is like the first domino.  Kudos to Cintra Wilson for one fantastic piece of writing!
