UPDATE: Here is a Rocky Mountain News report about Wes in Pueblo, where Barack and Michelle Obama are shortly to appear:

2:40 p.m. Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who once considered his own run for president, has rallied the troops in Pueblo by saying he thinks Obama will be “a great president.”

"Oh, McCain!"

This is a hilarious Lunatics and Liars video

It came in an email today from our dear friend John Soltz:

This is a turning point in our history, and the weight of some very serious issues has gotten pretty heavy. Almost no one knows that more than we do. But, it's also important every now and then to take a moment to laugh. There's certainly no shortage of things to chuckle about in our politics and policy debate.

Unite Behind Barack Obama

|

There has never been a more important election in my lifetime -- with a war waging, gas prices at record highs, our health care in crisis, and our nation's standing around the world severely diminished. I spent the last year traveling across the country talking to great Americans in Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, South Dakota, Indiana and many other places. They all agree on one thing: This country needs new leadership, and it's time for change.

Many of you in the Clark community answered the call. Some of you worked tirelessly for Senator Clinton while others poured hours into Senator Obama's campaign. You did this because you were willing to sacrifice your time and energy to bring the change we so desperately need. I can't thank you enough for all you have done.

Now I am asking you to come together and make sure Barack Obama is our next president. This is a critical mission.

Hillary Clinton ran an amazing race. She inspired millions. Our party is a better party because of her campaign, and our nation is a better nation because of her service. She is and will always be a friend whom I admire.

I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on securing the nomination. His historic campaign has touched lives and his message has moved people in every corner of America. I believe he is not only ready for the challenge but will be a great President.

It's time our party comes together to stand behind Senator Obama as we move forward in this election season. I look forward to doing everything I can to help Senator Obama's campaign. While I respect John McCain's service, I know exactly what he stands for -- Bush's third term. America is a great nation, and our people deserve more. We need Barack Obama to be our next president.

"Worse than during the Taliban" Updated in comments

This turn of events could really put Hillary Clinton in an awkward spot....

U.S.-backed Afghani President Hamid Karzai is poised to issue a law on women's rights that the UN Development Fund for Women has warned against and a female Parliamentarian calls "worse than during the Taliban."

This is just wrong :(

Somehow this slipped under the radar.....

Who's running the country?

|

mad4clark's picture

Well.......the lobbyists, apparently.

First there are the bankers.......the very people who caused the financial mess in which we find ourselves.

But despite that....and despite giving them an obscene bailout that has been a spectacular failure, Obama and the Dem Leadership are poised to give them another obscene amount of money....one which Obama has threatened to veto, if there are ANY preconditions attached. So much for transparency in government.

Why?

Setting her up to fail?

I wish I knew what was going on here.....

Many people feared that Obama would set up Hillary to fail, the way Nixon did with William Rogers. Unfortunately it's beginning to look like they might be right.

First we hear that Obama may appoint a special envoy to the Mid East....reporting directly to him and bypassing State.

Chillicothe, Ohio still "Main Street America", picks Obama for President.

The Columbus Dispatch calls Chillicothe "old reliable".

While the majority of voters in Ross County, Ohio voted for John McCain, those in the county seat (Chillicothe) favored Barack Obama by a 50-48 margin which is close to what he won in Ohio overall (51-47).

Obama and Net Neutrality

Last week, Obama laid out a plain to ensure net neutrality. From Save the Internet:

Day two of President-Elect Barack Obama’s transition to the White House, and already he came out strong for media reform.

Did Jesse Jackson, Jr. join the bus brigade?

CNN has been reporting all afternoon that Barack Obama would like to be replaced in the Senate by friend and advisor Valerie Jarrett. Most of the buzz so far had surrounded Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. Did Obama throw under Jackson under the bus along with so many others?

I wonder if it's any of Obama's business whom the Illinois governor names.

If you were the governor, would you feel any obligation to honor Obama's wishes?
