Copyrights and Blogging - Part II

Here is a post by Kos that I TOTALLY agree with and we all need to be better at this. His site is especially vulnerable because it is so big and it is watched by so many.

Looks like I'm in a meta mood today. But I've had to ban a bunch of people recently for copyright infringement, and that brings me zero joy (unlike zapping assholes, trolls, and wingers).

Look people -- I'm taking copyright violations seriously. We have the benefit of being in a medium where we can easily direct people to source material via hyperlink.

Copyright Violations and the Blog Community.

I am pulling this from Kos so in a way I am using his "material".

I have seen various people here at the CCN post entire stories and even entire stories with no link back to the original.

We all need to be a little better at "block quoting" pieces of the "article" and giving links "back" to the original.

If it is a subscriber only site then maybe we post part and let people sign up through the link or ... maybe ... post the entire article but give BIG kudos to the source with MANY links back to the source.

Also.. pictures.. I think the best way to handle pictures from other sources is to ALWAYS give a link and kudos back to the source (unless it is your own picture or you were given permission).

Now for some words from Kos:
