General Wesley Clark’s dig at John McCain’s military experience is a fair criticism. This is a presidential campaign, where all matters of a candidate’s past are fair game, and the transfer or acquisition of power is predictably revealing and unpleasant. And in this case, when one considers the source, Clark is certainly credible to speak on the matter.

The problem is that McCain and the Republicans don't see a role for government in intervening when an individual citizen is in crisis.

Well, friends, the Fed just dropped it's basic interest rate by 1/2 a percent. Not only that, they got similar banks all over the world to drop their rates within seconds. This has never happened before. Never.

McCain waaaay off-message on offshore drilling

That Charlie Black comment wasn’t McCain’s only off-message moment yesterday. At a town hall in Fresno, CA, McCain admitted that the offshore drilling proposal he unveiled last week would probably have mostly “psychological” benefits, NBC/NJ’s Adam Aigner-Treworgy notes.

“Even though it may take some years, the fact that we are exploiting those reserves would have psychological impact that I think is beneficial."

Uh oh.
