Wes Clark knows our security comes from living up to our democratic ideals, not

the use of force.

This is a draft of a diary inspired by Tom Rinaldo's recent diary linked to below. I'm thinking about posting it to dailykos. If anyone has the time and inclination to look at it to make suggestions, especially on pruning it back because it's too long, I'd very much appreciate it. Suggestions on best time to post would also be appreciated.
Thanks:)

It's sad that some of our leading Democratic presidential candidates feel compelled to compete with one another to show who's tougher on national security.

Kerry lost - Are we better off?

George Bush is a disaster for our country, for our economy, for our military.  But we already knew that before the last election took place.

Is there a bright side to this?  Perhaps in a very morose way.

I believe the extra 4 years Bush has to ruin the nation, will put Democrats and / or reform minded, truth minded, justice seeking leaders in a far greater position than they would have been.

I think the extent of his corruption and incompetance has become more apparent to the public at large, and perhaps, the silver lining to this, is that this will enable radical change for the better that may not have happened if Kerry won.  Sometimes things have to get THAT bad before change can happen.
