Just as every great man has a great woman behind her (;-)... every international 21st century crisis and catastrophic event has a pipeline deal close behind it.
I always find the nugget when I search by "topic" + "pipeline". Generally it yields a Triple-7 payoff.

Use very sharp carving knives—
Ever since the Bilderbergers checked out of the Istanbul Ritz Carlton, Turkey has been acting strangely...
Turkish sabers are rattling a little louder these days... and waving in the air looking for something to carve.
A July 22nd Parliamentary election is right around the corner, and it looks like the perfect time to mount a feisty summer offensive into northern Iraq to do battle with longtime enemies, the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party). The Kurdish cowboys.

For the first time since Al Gore gaveled the Congressional Black Caucus in 2001*, Al Gore will make a formal appearance in front of the U.S. Congress on WEDNESDAY March 21, 2007.

About a month ago, while scanning my Reuters homepage for interesting stories, I spotted the following headline:

By now, we’ve all heard about how much Al Gore spends on electricity. And while it’s not my job to defend anybody’s actions but my own, I will say that shockingly there is more to the story than The Drudge Report has made public. For those who haven’t heard, that massive quantity of electricity that Gore uses was created from clean, renewable resources. And Gore spends considerably more on that clean energy than he would for normally produced electricity. He should be given credit for that.

Some quasi-random musings on a Tuesday afternoon:
Wes Clark on AIPAC -- Wes spoke truthfully about the influence of AIPAC in political campaigning. And yes, there are many in Israel who are pushing hard for a strike on Iran. Whether that's a case of them wagging us or vice-versa is an open question. For years, we've leaned on the Israelis to adopt a more moderate attitude toward the Sunni, most particularly the Saudis, who have maintained the petrodollar monopoly and thus allowed the U.S. to impose worldwide seigniorage.
Wes isn't rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Should we?

Okay, Global Climate Change is my hobbyhorse. But apparently, it's also one of Wes's. At the DNC he clearly spoke out about the need to address the issue, and he spoke in practical terms of creating new, efficient, environmentally friendly infrustructure, thus creating jobs, and giving industry a profit center other than war. Think of it. Instead of pouring billions into weapons in order to keep the jobs in the defense industry, and thus needing wars in order to create a demand for those weapons, we could turn all that industry and manpower into saving our civilization.
