The Courthouse Effect

Global warming can't seem to stay out of the news lately. Whether it's because of Al Gore's new movie, newly released reports from the National Academy of Sciences, or newly uttered flubs by our president, the subject has been everywhere. It's tempting to think that some critical mass is building--that the way we talk and think about this issue may forever change because of all the current attention and increased public awareness. On the other hand, the history of the global warming debate in the United States shows that there have been longstanding cycles of attention followed by inattention followed by attention again. Perhaps we're just in another attentive period at the moment.

Although I wasn't able to get to the rally for Hillary, in Annapolis, yesterday, I heard there was a terrific turnout.  The front page of today's Baltimore Sun has 2 articles pertaining to our upcoming primary, under the combined headline:

Money, gender add complexity to campaigns.

Women drawn to Clinton by their hearts, minds

Here is a passionate submission to the local publication, The Tahoma Organizer, by my friend Michelle. She, and the Organizer, have been invaluable in this community for being a voice for all of us who care what's happening in our world. Please take a moment to read:

This is Michelle's story and her words.

If you are human, this will touch you.

The Clinton Endorsement: A Major Strategic Blunder

I doubt that General Clark will ever actually read this, but I was completely disheartened to learn that a man possessed of his strategic intelligence – among so many other extraordinary attributes – and a man I respect so profoundly, had endorsed Senator Clinton for president.

I think every major blog NEEDS a Live Earth Thread!

So this is my lame attempt.

Here is the main website link:
http://www.liveearth.org

Want to watch LIVE online? Go Here:
http://liveearth.msn.com

Seems like if you want to see it on TV, most people will only be able to see it on NBC tonight at 8pm.

But... It is on BRAVO right now! They are showing a really good mix of shows and Good Earth info and videos.

Why is it not on MTV or VH1? .. oh... they USED to be music stations and USED to fake social awareness and caring.

National Journal: "Clark will be a candidate within 10 days"

| |

This is from an article where they rank current and potential Dem candidates. Currently, Clark is in 8th place (up two places from the previous ranking they took). Not bad for someone who hasn't announced yet. They go on to indicate that "he'll have few institutional donors, but a reservoir of netroot support". I don't entirely believe in that assessment, given that Soros is a big friend of the General and given that there is still plenty of money to be gathered from the other 300 million Americans who don't hang out on the NY/DC cocktail circuit.
