I wonder. What do we still have in common?

We all know that CCN split into 2 large parts when Wes Clark endorsed Hillary Clinton.
We all know that CCN still exists as 2 large groups of people - Obama supporters and Clinton supporters.
What I wonder is this -- what do we still have in common besides being supporters of Wes Clark?
We all want George W Bush to leave office (and in my case, go directly to jail).
We all want the Iraq War to end as quickly as possible.
We all want a Democratic majority in Congress in January 2009.
We all want a more secure economic future for our families.
What else do we all agree on?
Winds of Change, Shifting Sands

I've spent a lot of time the past few years pondering the way the winds of life can blow us into unexpected, and sometimes unpleasant places. Places that in our wildest dreams (or darkest nightmares) we never imagined we would be.
The only constant in life is change, they say. Like death and taxes it seems inevitable.
Each of us here have changed since we first came together in the name of Wes Clark.

I am the Flag
by Ruth Apperson Rous
I am the flag of the United States of America.

I was born on June 14, 1777, in Philadelphia.
There the Continental Congress adopted my stars and stripes as the national flag.

My thirteen stripes alternating red and white, with a union of thirteen white stars in a field of blue, represented a new constellation, a new nation dedicated to the personal and religious liberty of mankind.
The Real Prophetic Candidate

Ultimately, Hillary will emerge from this election as the prophetic candidate, not Obama.
No matter what happens, no matter who wins, she has forever blazed a trail for women, for girls and for leaders everywhere.
She has stayed focused on her agenda, despite attempts to throw her off.
She has run her campaign her way and she has stayed in on her terms.
She has stood up to, and, more importantly, ignored the juggernaut of hatred, fear, suspicion, rage, name-calling and mean-minded vilification that would bring your average person to their knees.

For whatever it's worth, I miss this site and the commentors.
A lot has changed, not a lot has changed (or "plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose") since I was last here.
I never thought that the top two candidates for the Democratic presidential candidates would be ones we would have never thought of 20 years ago. Of course McCain is typical political white bread.
The Iraq has changed.... only not so much.
Of course Bush is still so totally clueless.
Republicans are still just as bad as they were and sadly worse than I thought they could be.
No more social contract?

In order for a society to function, there have to be rules that everyone adheres to. If no one follows the rules, then it really is every man for himself. And if we don’t stop glorifying the self as the ultimate–if we don’t stop treating citizens like criminals and patsies to be played and bilked at every turn–if we don’t reinvest our common government with the power to protect its people–then we’ll have no society.

Diamonds or Pearls?

I watched that debate on TV, when the young woman asked that canned question of Hillary Clinton about which she preferred, diamonds or pearls? Everybody thought it was a powder puff question not unlike the boxers or briefs question Bill got when he was a candidate. Hillary told the audience that she wants both (diamonds and pearls.) In the background Joe Biden could be heard to ask they give all the candidates that question and then I could hear him saying, "diamonds." Who cares you might ask?
Seeking an "External Hard Drive"

A few minutes ago I read this quote from Al Gore: "But I fear that I’m losing my objectivity where President Bush and Cheney are concerned. Not much surprises me anymore. I have a lot of friends who share the following problem with me: Our sense of outrage is so saturated that when a new outrage occurs, we have to download some existing outrage into an external hard drive in order to make room for a new outrage."
Those words struck a chord in me and propelled me to ask this community a question that's been on my mind for quite a while. How do you cope?
Less filling...tastes great

Democratic politics | Essays | Wesley Clark

Remember the (was it?) Miller Light ad campaign from a few years ago that featured two people arguing over the merits of the beer? Was it "less filling" or "tastes great"? The point, of course, was that it was both less filling and tastes great.
