If The DNC Is Going To Strictly Apply The Rules . . .

By Big Tent Democrat, Section Elections 2008

And if the DNC Memo expresses the views of the Rules and Bylaws Committee then the following action should occur on May 31:

Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina must be stripped of at least 50% of their delegates. As Florida Representative Ted Deutch states:

Florida and Michigan - Report on status of Delegate Seating

Sorry I'm posting this with little time. Here's the latest on the Michigan and Florida matter.

The best part, however, is later in the story:

"DissNfranChise" Florida and Michigan voters? - Why the outrage?

| | | | |

As I documented in this previous diary, some are quite courteous in their insistence that the DNC count every vote. Others are outraged! This PROTEST video features reaction from real people from around America, demanding the DNC play fair and seat both Michigan and Florida - thereby NOT "DissNFranChising" millions of voters!

Here's a sampling of comments on this video which give us some idea of why the outrage is building:

Count Every Vote! The DNC must honor our core democratic principles!

Dear friends,

We are close up against something VERY important to the future of this great country. If you love your family, and you care about the future, please read on; and please watch this fractured fairy tale! It would be very funny if it weren't so incredibly serious.

If you believe the contest for the Democratic nomination must not end before all of the votes from each State and US Territory have been cast and counted and that nominating conventions, not candidates (or the media), declare the nominee,

To the DNC - Re: Florida and Michigan – “Don’t be fools for the rules.”

True Democrats do not disenfranchise other Democrats. Please behave like the true Democrats you know you are, and seat the duly elected MI and FL delegates. What if Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King had agreed to follow rules because rules are rules? Don't be fools for the rules.

"I will not miss the silence"

.....Most of all, I will not miss the silence.

I will not miss the deafening, depressing silence of Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean or other leading Democrats, who to my knowledge (with the exception of Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland) haven't uttered a word of public outrage at the unrelenting, sex-based hate that has been hurled at a former first lady and two-term senator from New York. Among those holding their tongues are hundreds of Democrats for whom Clinton has campaigned and raised millions of dollars.....

Why Nominate Someone Who Has Less Than Half the Party Supporting Them?

I just posted a diary over at MyDD asking whether people think its a good idea for the Democratic Party to nominate someone with less than half the support of the Democratic Party.

Lies about The Rules.

Poached from Jon Winkleman at MyDD who asks that we forward this far and wide because....

Obama and his supporters are deliberately spreading misinformation regarding the timing sanctions against both Florida and Michigan. Much of the media is parroting their press releases without referring to the actual DNC Delegate Selection Rules for 2008.
