"...now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country..."

I've typed that a million times - like many of you, probably - while practicing typing skills, under my mom's tutelage. I've always liked that it ended with "country", and not the original wording of the phrase, which is "party."

Glimmer of Hope for US Policy Towards Iraq and Iran

snip

Wednesday night I participated in the briefing of 14 members of Congress, a majority of whom would be labeled as liberal Democrats by most Republicans (but a couple of classy Republicans did attend that session). The following day I briefed 12 Republican legislators, who by Democratic standards, are considered libertarian to ultra conservative. The topic was the same–Is War with Iran Inevitable and What are our Options?

How has Iraq affected candidates' views on foreign policy and warfare?

I've got to hand it to Garrison Keillor, he typically nails it, and in a fashion that leaves a person smiling, even though they may be seething inside.  This essay is no exception.  My loathing for the GOP has regularly tied my stomach in knots.  I'm not so sure this is keeping me forever young, however...LOL!  (Which is prefferable to being a snarrling, crotchety old conservative any day of the week!)  :)

Miracle drug of anger
Raging against Republican hypocrisy is the tonic that keeps us old liberals forever young.
