I'm far from convinced, but I do think we should consider a unity ticket.

One regular sized week. Seven entire days. Compared to Senator Clinton, that's how much longer Senator Obama has actively opposed the war in Iraq.

I have been a very active soldier in Wes Clark’s army since August 2003. His recent actions in favor of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton have forced me to conclude that it is time to resign my commission and look elsewhere in search of Democratic leadership.
My change of heart began on September 15, when I unexpectedly learned that he is supporting Senator Hillary Clinton for President. Then yesterday I was even more dismayed when I read his statement in Huffington Post praising her vote for the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment.

If the Democrats cannot prevail in withdrawing before Bush goes out of office (and they cannot), and if they then rapidly draw down the troops on taking office in 2009, they face the real prospect of a "Gerald Ford meltdown" of the sort that occurred in 1975 when the North Vietnamese and their VC allies took over South Vietnam.

Today's Los Angeles Times had the following story on the front page:
FOREIGN POLICY IS CENTRAL IN 2008 PRESIDENTIAL RACES
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-iraqviews29jul29,0,2858677.story?coll=la-home-center
And it describes a contemporary political landscape that makes a 2008 Wes Clark candidacy highly potent and viable- regardless of any money concerns alluded to on Charlie Rose.

Late Night musings from an old vet, who longs for peace.
Do you find it strange that while our heroes, combat veterans General Wesley Clark and Jon Soltz, leader of VoteVets.org, have launched StopIranWar.com to enable all of us to demand that President Bush halt his rush to war with Iran, neocons led by the likes of Bill Kristol, support not only the "surge" but war with Iran?

Global Warming and the Iraq War have the same root cause: powerful corporate leaders telling the White House and Congress how to run the country. Global Warming and the Iraq war are twin failures of neoliberal/neoconservative politics.
The trouble starts when the man or woman sitting in the White House meets behind closed doors with the head of General Motors or Exxon or whomever to decide for 300 million people how to use our tax dollars.

EXCERPT:
When they called her name, she could not move. Sgt. Leana Nishimura intended to walk up proudly, shake the dignitaries' hands and accept their honors for her service in Iraq-- a special coin, a lapel pin, a glass-encased U.S. flag.
But her son clung to her leg. He cried and held tight, she recalled. And so Nishimura stayed where she was, and the ceremony last summer went on without her. T.J. was 9, her oldest child, and although eight months had passed since she had returned from the war zone, he was still upset by anything that reminded him of her deployment.
