Pelosi and Clark to Address College Democrats of America Convention

Pelosi and Clark to Address College Democrats of America Convention

July 7, 2006

Today, College Democrats of America (CDA) announced that House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and General Wesley Clark will address this year's CDA convention. Leader Pelosi and General Clark will speak about the importance of the youth vote and how young people can get involved in the upcoming mid-term elections. They will join the line-up of other Democratic speakers including DNC Chairman Howard Dean and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. The CDA convention will be held on the campus of St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.

This will be the first time CDA will hold it convention outside of Washington, DC during a mid-term election year. Holding this year's convention outside the beltway is consistent with Democratic efforts to organize and reach out several months before the election, while running a 50 state strategy that refuses to take any vote for granted.

During the 2004 election, record numbers of youth voters turned out and made their voices heard. This year's mid-term elections will give young people a historic opportunity to speak out against the failed Republican policies that have done nothing to address the concerns of young Americans about enormous student loans, astronomical gas prices and limited job opportunities.

The CDA convention will play an important role in preparing participants to join the fight for a better America, offering on-site training, workshops, candidate forums and opportunities to hear from dynamic leaders in the Democratic Party.
