In my many years of service to this great nation, I have had the pleasure of serving with many fine officers, but there were some that always stood above the rest. One such officer was Commander Eric Massa. Eric was my Special Assistant both in Panama and again at NATO, during which he became one of my most trusted aides in the run up to the Kosovo War. For 24 years, Eric served his Nation with distinction and honor, but in 1999 he was forced to step down from his position at my side due to what was thought to be a terminal diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Eric is one tough sailor though, and through the power of prayer, family, and sheer determination, he made a full recovery.
Following his illness, Eric had a lot of time to reflect on himself and the world around him. Now in civilian life, Eric watched with disgust as President Bush took our military into battle under equipped and without a realistic plan for victory. Just like me, Eric felt the calling to do something about it, so he joined my Presidential Campaign Staff in late 2003. The day after President Bush squeaked out his reelection, Eric decided to run for Congress in New York's 29th Congressional District.
Many of you stood with Eric this past November, and he lost by less than 6,000 votes in a very tough district. Eric is running again, and he needs your help again to put him over the top.

Get rid of Randy Kuhl, Bush's #1 rubberstamp. Contribute to Eric Massa today! |
The 29th was once thought to be an impossible district for a Democrat to win in, until Eric ran. By building a true grassroots campaign, Eric came within percentage points of defeating one of the absolute worst rubberstamp Republicans in all of Washington, Congressman Randy Kuhl. After the election, Kuhl returned to Washington and was rewarded for his loyalty to the White House with a promotion to Deputy Minority Whip. As part of the Republican Leadership, Eric's opponent has continued to push the Bush agenda in Congress. If we are going to fix Washington, we need to start by sending Eric Massa to Congress.
If there is one thing I know about Eric Massa, it's that he is definitely not a quitter. This year, Eric is starting early and he needs our help. Eric has never accepted a single cent of corporate PAC money, and so it's up to us to help his grassroots campaign grow. Your $1,000, $250, and $50 contributions truly are the difference in this tight race, and I know we can win this seat together.
Contribute to Eric Massa's campaign today!
I've known Eric Massa for many years, and I can assure you he will be a leader in Congress rather than a follower. Eric will stand up for the families of the 29th District and the entire country, so I urge you to join with me and stand with Eric Massa.
Regards,
