Combat Infantry Badge
The Combat Infantryman Badge is a “badge of honor.” Those who are awarded the decoration have participated in direct combat with an enemy force.
Captain Clark was an armor officer in Viet Nam, commanding a company of foot soldiers, when he was seriously wounded in February of 1970. Clark was awarded a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge based on his service in Viet Nam.
Specifically, the award is presented to those officers, warrant officers and enlisted soldiers in the grade of Colonel and below, who have participated in active ground combat while assigned as a member of an infantry or special forces unit, brigade or smaller size, during any period after December of 1941.
