Vietnam Service Medal (with 3 Service Stars)
Captain Wesley Clark served in Viet Nam from May of 1969 until he was seriously wounded in active duty in February 19th of 1970.
About the Vietnam Service Medal
Created in 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, of the Vietnam Service Medal was issued to recognize members of all services who served in Vietnam (including its contiguous waters and airspace), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, or airspace in direct support of military operations in the Republic of Vietnam from July 4, 1965 to March 28, 1973.
To be eligible for award of the medal, individual must have been attached to or regularly serve for one or more days with an organization participating in or directly supporting military operations; or been attached to or regularly serve for one or more days aboard a naval vessel directly supporting military operations; or actually participated as a crewmember in one or more aerial flights into airspace above Vietnam and contiguous waters directly supporting military operations; or, served on temporary duty for 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days in Vietnam or contiguous areas, except that the time limit may be waived for personnel participating in actual combat operations.
