CANADA: The Meritorious Service Cross

CANADA: The Meritorious Service Cross

The Canadian Chief of the Defense, General Maurice Baril, awarded the Meritorious Service Cross (military division) of Canada to General Clark in June of 2000.

Military personnel are recognized for bringing considerable benefit and honor to the Canadian Forces through the performance of a military deed or activity conducted in an outstanding or highly professional manner.

The citation reads:

“In command of Canadian Forces personnel in the Balkan Theatre, General Clark exhibited the highest standard of professional dedication in Operations Allied Force, Joint Guardian, Joint Force and Allied Harbor.

General Clark's leadership covered not only the command of forces at sea, in the field and in the air, but also Canadians in NATO Headquarters staffs and discussions with National Authority in Ottawa.

His indefatigable efforts contributed greatly to bringing a successful end to the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo and to the ongoing peace process in Bosnia-Herzegovina.”
