November 4 was an historic day. The Democratic wave created competitive races in "red" areas that the pundits never believed would be close. Two of those races are now headed to runoffs, and we can't back down until they're over.

Jim Martin in Georgia and Paul Carmouche in Louisiana have campaigned tirelessly in their races, and now we have an opportunity to put them over the top. Next month, Jim Martin faces a runoff against Saxby Chambliss for the U.S. Senate seat in Georgia, and Paul Carmouche will compete in a runoff against his opponent for a seat in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. We have come too far and have fought too hard to back down in these tight races.

Jim Martin

Jim Martin

I've written to you before about Jim Martin. He has served our nation honorably as a member of the Armed Forces in Vietnam, in the Georgia House of Representatives, and at the Georgia Department of Human Resources. Throughout his career, he led Georgia on health care issues, helped provide quality health care for thousands of children, and put foster children in loving homes.

Jim's opponent, Saxby Chambliss, is doing everything he can to cling onto his seat. In 2002, Chambliss ran one of the most despicable TV ads I've ever seen in which he compared war hero Senator Max Cleland to Osama bin Laden. And now, in a desperate attempt to win the December runoff, his latest ad uses images from 9/11 to exploit voters' fears about terrorism. To top it off, John McCain flew into Atlanta last week to campaign for Chambliss. We can expect more attack ads and other national Republican figures to descend on Georgia for Chambliss, and Jim needs our help now.

Paul Carmouche

Paul Carmouche

Paul Carmouche is running for an open seat in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. As the District Attorney for Caddo Parish, Paul has taken thousands of violent criminals off the streets and put them behind bars. He has cracked down on child predators and domestic violence. His opponent, John Fleming, on the other hand, wants to cut taxes for millionaires like himself and raise taxes for middle class families.

Paul has shown an ability to win over Republican voters and current polling has him ahead of his opponent. But we can expect the right-wing to launch full-scale attacks on Paul's record, and he needs our support. Let's help put Paul over the top, and add the 4th Congressional District to the growing list of Democratic seats in Congress.

Runoff races are all about turnout and that depends heavily on the ability to raise money. Please rush a contribution to Jim and Paul today.

Last Minute Plea

Eric Massa, Dan Seals, and David Boswell need your support to fund urgent media buys and last minute get out the vote operations.

I just received an urgent note from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. There are three candidates we need to help right now in these final 24 hours before the polls close.

Eric Massa (NY-29), Dan Seals (IL-10), and David Boswell (KY-02) need your support to fund urgent media buys and the expansion of last minute get out the vote operations. They need to pay for extra boots on the ground that could be the difference between winning and losing tomorrow.

Can you rush a last minute donation to Eric, Dan, and David?

Two weeks ago I told you that Eric Massa was being swiftboated. Well, it's still happening. Last week, another letter to the editor was printed in a local paper attacking his military record.

It's clear his opponent has a small clutch of 8-10 people spreading these lies to local papers, and yet with the exception of one, all of the local newspapers have refused to print the letter I wrote for Eric defending his service to our country.

Eric can't rely on the media to do what's right, so I need you to send him a last minute donation so he can get his ad "Military Service" back on the air to defend himself. Make a contribution to Eric today!

Dan Seals is running against Mark Kirk in Illinois' 10th Congressional District. Dan believes that it's time for change in America. It's time to move forward and solve the real challenges that face our nation -- from the economy, to health care, to the cost of gasoline, to Iraq and our foreign policy.

Two years ago, Dan came up a few points short, and this time, the race is once again neck-and-neck. Barack Obama will win this suburban district, and has cut a radio ad for Dan that if voters in the district hear, will help carry Dan to victory tomorrow.

But Dan needs a final infusion of financial support to make it happen. Please make a contribution and help him air Barack's ad for him in these final hours.

David Boswell is running for the open seat in Kentucky's 2nd Congressional District. David's background as a state legislator and his work as Kentucky's Commissioner of Agriculture make him a strong candidate. He has been a strong advocate of open and fair government, and he is invested in making full use of Kentucky's natural resources to increase our country's energy independence.

This is a tough district that George Bush carried handily, but the most recent polling shows David with a very slim lead. To win, he needs to make sure all the new voters coming out to the polls for the presidential election, vote down the ballot and check David's name.

David is expanding his get out the vote operations, and he needs our help to do it. Please make a contribution to his campaign today!

We're moments from making history. Thank you so much for being a part of it with me.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

The Final Pieces

Bruce and Jeff are going to be great Senators, but they are running against well-financed incumbents. They need our help to win.

This is it. These are our last moments to make a difference in races that will shape the future of our country.

I've personally chosen two final U.S. Senate candidates that need our support in these final days: Bruce Lunsford in Kentucky and Jeff Merkley in Oregon. Bruce and Jeff are going to be great Senators, but they are running against well-financed incumbents. They need our help to win on November 4.

We're just 6 days from Election Day, and we're nearing the point where it will be too late to secure advertising time, staff phone banks, and hire field staff to get out the vote. The time to give is now.

Please support Bruce and Jeff today!

Bruce Lunsford will be a tireless advocate in Washington for our troops and our veterans. As a veteran of the Army Reserve and the National Guard, he'll make sure that our commanders have a clear mission. And he'll fight to ensure that we keep our promises to our veterans by fully supporting the new GI Bill, improving health care benefits and VA facilities to prevent another Walter Reed, and ensuring that the education benefits we guaranteed our fighting men and women stay funded and secure.

Now let's compare Bruce to his opponent, Mitch McConnell. Last week I wrote to you about the record 94 filibusters over the last two years in the Senate. As the Minority Leader, McConnell was the chief engineer behind the filibusters, including stopping important legislation to bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq. We can expect the same obstructionism if we don't help Bruce defeat him.

End the Republican obstructionism. Contribute to Bruce Lunsford today!

In Oregon, Jeff Merkley has a great chance to defeat incumbent Republican Senator Gordon Smith. As Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives, Jeff led the fight to make health care more affordable, created thousands of new jobs, and passed landmark environmental legislation.

Smith, in sharp contrast, has voted with President Bush 80% of the time. He has toed the corporate line on health care and has failed to stand up for America's veterans. To hide the truth about his voting record, Smith has tried to portray himself one way in Portland and another way in rural Oregon with contradictory and misleading ads and campaign mailings. Despite that, recent polls show Jeff ahead by a few points. Jeff needs our help to tell voters the truth about Smith's record.

It's time to add Jeff's important voice to the U.S. Senate. Please contribute to his campaign today!

Thank you so much for your amazing support of Democratic candidates throughout this election. Please help these two great candidates today, and we'll celebrate a huge Democratic victory on November 4th!

Sincerely,

Wes Clark
