The Importance of Tuesday

This Tuesday is going to be a very important day. Voters will head to polling sites throughout the country -- but there's one race in particular that I'd like to draw your attention to, a race the Republicans want to use as a referendum on Barack Obama's presidency.

That race is the special election in New York's 23rd Congressional District.

The Democratic candidate, Bill Owens, has devoted his life to creating jobs and developing Upstate New York's economy, helping to bring over 2,000 jobs to the region. He is also a veteran, having nobly served our country as a Captain at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base. He is exactly the sort of person we need working for us in Congress.

Help me elect another veteran to Congress. Contribute to Bill Owen's campaign today!

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman's entry into the race has mobilized those who want to damage President Obama and his progressive agenda. Radical tea party activists from across the country have come to New York to volunteer for Hoffman's campaign, seeing the race's outcome as a first electoral test of their movement's strength.

Hoffman has even been endorsed by the conservative Club for Growth, Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, and Dick Armey -- and they are all working overtime to ensure a conservative victory.

While Doug Hoffman's campaign has been fueled by right-wing tea party leaders, Bill's has been fueled by everyday New Yorkers who recognize Bill's ability to drive economic revitalization within the region.

Help us send a powerful message to the country about the support for progressive values -- contribute to Bill Owen's campaign before Tuesday's election!

Whoever gets the most votes Tuesday will win the seat. There are three candidates in the race, and with the low turnout in special elections, every vote is that much more important.

A recent poll gives Bill a slight lead in the race, but this is a swing district that narrowly voted for President Obama. We still need to do everything we can to ensure a Democratic victory.

Please contribute to Bill in these final days before the special election.

Join me, and scores of others, including Vice President Biden and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, in supporting Bill Owens in this important House race. With the election just days away, we need to act quickly to ensure a Democratic victory!

You have done so much to elect new leaders to Congress, especially veterans. Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

P.S. This important election is just a few days away. Help us ensure a Democratic victory, and the defeat of a right-wing activist by contributing to Bill Owen's campaign today.

Help Scott Murphy Defend His Victory

I wanted to give you a quick update on the open seat election in New York's 20th Congressional district. Earlier this month I wrote to you about the special election and asked you to help Democrat Scott Murphy in his uphill battle to defeat Jim Tedisco.

Thanks to your support, Scott is on the verge of winning. After starting off more than 21 points down, Scott now leads by 65 votes, but the race is still too-close-to-call. Unfortunately, even before the polls closed, his opponents filed a lawsuit to slow down the vote count.

As we've seen with Al Franken in Minnesota, this election fight will likely continue in the courts. Scott's campaign will now need the resources to wage this legal battle.

I know I've asked a lot from you the last few weeks, but if you're able to, please consider contributing to Scott's campaign today.

You helped Scott get here, and I can't thank you enough.

Wes

Simple Question

It's a simple question: do you support President Obama's stimulus package? If so, we need your help to win in New York's District 20.

Donate to Scott Murphy's campaign today!

For a Member of Congress, it's a simple question, really: Do you support President Obama's stimulus package?

Running to fill the open seat in New York's 20th congressional district, Republican Jim Tedisco couldn't give us a straight answer for over a month. Yesterday, Tedisco finally admitted that he'd have voted against the stimulus and therefore against 76,000 jobs in upstate New York and the biggest middle-class tax cut in history.

Tedisco seems to think that conservative ideology trumps the needs of the people of NY-20. Tedisco wants to be just another Republican in the House, where not even a single Republican member voted to help get Americans back to work and fix our economy.

In these tough times, we need leaders in Washington who will help us find a way out of this mess.

That's why we need to help Democrat Scott Murphy win the special election on March 31st. Please make a contribution to Scott's campaign today!

Scott Murphy lives in the 20th district with his wife and three young children. As a venture capitalist and entrepreneur, he has helped create more than 1000 jobs in 20 New York Companies. He has managed large staffs and helped create green jobs in upstate New York. He's exactly the type of person we need in Congress today.

The national Republican party is already running attack ads, and recently Tedisco followed -- lying about Scott's record of creating jobs. They want the race to be nasty and personal because the polls show Scott with the momentum. Just last week, an independent poll showed Scott just 4 points behind after some polls showed him down over 20 points just weeks ago.

Clearly Scott can win. That's why ensuring that Scott has the resources to spread his message is so critical. If the Republicans win, we will cede the momentum, and we know they will spin this as a defeat of President Obama's agenda.

In 2006, I travelled up to NY-20 to help elect Kirsten Gillibrand to her first term in the U.S. House. It's a tough district that voted for George W. Bush but in 2008 swung to vote narrowly for Barack Obama.

With Kirsten appointed to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate, Republicans want this seat back. They think they can get back in power by opposing everything.

We have to elect Scott Murphy. Jim Tedisco and the national Republicans want to show that being the party of No -- the party of obstructionism -- is a path back to power.

Are you going to let them win?

Join me and support Scott Murphy before his election on March 31st. We need someone who will support President Obama's agenda to get our country back on track.
